Gamers love microsoft..

Ok, so what the point of this video? First off, they interupt the Lenox Lewis fight for the Xbox??! Sacralege! :D So it boots up, they give the screen the finger, point to the flashing XBOX power button (maybe it stalled?), and that's it?

Just go to divx.com and download the latest version there...it will be fine for everything

Xbox requires service...hmmm....I wonder if the system is actually faulty or if they just screwed with it to make this video??

Ah yes, now i see what that screen was saying. Hmmm, i'll have to agree that maybe they tampered with the system, but then again, most systems you tamper with simply won't boot...

They didnt modify it or anything, there's thousands of xbox units that are malfunctioning in north america, like this one above.

True, over at Zellers where i work we already had one XBOX unit returned... the very next morning after launch. The reason stated was that "it won't pick up games." Maybe it's a probelm with the DVD drive?

Considering how many of them are sold, there's bound to be a few that are broken. It's just a fact that sometimes a faulty product passes quality control. If that was not the case we would have no need for guarantees or repair services.

A lot more GC's were sold and I'll bet even fewer returned.

Of course neither of us has any solid facts about that matter.

The Gamecube is of a simpler design, though, so there's less that can go wrong.

Simpler? even so, I rather have a simpler design that works right than a more complex design that might have problems. Still, not sure which one im gonna buy yet, will have to wait for christmas maybe.

yah, gameCube has a simpler design because it doesn't have to deal with other devices like a HD and whatnot. It's very complex though...they just designed it extremely efficiently and almost everything is integrated in a couple of chips. The motherboard layout on the 'Cube is really clean

Yeah, by simpler I basically mean less components. I know the gamecube chips probably have a lot more complex design (more efficient anyways), but the X-box has all kinds of stuff there from third party producers that can go wrong.

Hrm, didn't 3Dfx (back in the day) have a VooDoo rush with a 3rd party 2D chip? Look at where that got 3Dfx, we can only hope the same happens to Microsoft :-)

Yep... I had a rush... unfortuantely ... it was a Hercules Stingray

Simple = good. Just take a look at the M-16 compared to the AK-47 (I'm ex-infantry, if you don't like the comparision I'll track you down and kill your radeons....) The M-16 has tons of moving parts and if even a touch of muck gets in it..it jams. The AK however can be dragged successfully through mud, water, muddy water, and other crap and not hicup.

 Simple

I had a 6MB Voodoo RUSH...the 3D was pretty good for its time but so many other things sucked like the ultra-crappy 2D:p

Actually it wont. Some 3.11;) encodings wont work on PM's divx. So I suggest you install both 3.11 and 4.11.
