So I have done really 0 gaming since I got my 3rd 670 in may. Now that blops2 came out and with ac3 coming I decided to put my cards to use. Problem is I am getting retarded top card temps as in as high as 95C under load due to the sandwiching. I pretty much gave up on gaming past 1600p for the time being. So should I go water or just cut my losses and sell one card and wait for the 600s refresh to go tri and water. I just feel like If I went water now I would have to take it apart and buy new cards 1st quater next year. Haven't really kept up with the speculated release schedule but I recall reading march/2013?

Sell 3rd card. It is pretty useless anyways due to drivers. Heck, half the new games don't even have an SLi profile to use (e.g., Most Wanted, BLOPS2).

There is no real factual refresh in sight. Both companies have zero incentive to introduce new products before the next consoles are out. Catering to 1% of the top market is not the best strategy. If I were them, I will not even release a refresh of the cards until Q2 2013.

How are two cards for 1600P gaming?

sell 2 cards, wait for big kepler, buy 2 of them and watercool them. or sell 1 and sell 2 later for less.

I would just water cool the cards. I'm sure that other than the blocks that you have all of the water cooling hardware that you need.

Whats your budget like nyc? Unless you absolutely need the cash i would try and keep the 3rd one especially if u already have the wc hardware. You still using triple mon or just a single 1600p?

I still have my triple monitor setup just not using it. In terms of hardware all I need are the blocks I have everything else. Budget is not an issue I just don't want to do extra work. l fear that big Kep will create an itch to upgrade followed by blocks again. If my tri can hold up to next Gen dual sli, then I don't mind watering them

lol @ KAC

Tough call, not sure I'd want to invest in water for 670's tbh, especially with lack of voltage control. Its the only reason I buy reference, to exhaust the heat. I would probably just sell 1 and wait for the next GPU's, or even sell all 3 and grab a pair of 7970/50's.

I like the dual 690's option too, but out of my price range, however if you have the cash, why not? Would be awesome to mess around with.

Fair enough, in that case I'm going with sell 1 and ride it out with non-reference 670 SLI till next gen. I dont see any value in buying water blocks for 670's. Or sell all 3 and get some reference 680's, but I feel all of Nv's line up is overpriced atm.

The card will throttle if needed.

If you are uncomfortable with the temp, get it more air somehow or go water.

Whose loling now... :bleh:

Instead of going wc you could experiment with ghetto style cooling.(Its winter after all, seen some great pics and videos over the years of ppl routing in winter air thru a window) or use a portable a/c and a mod like noko did on his case.

This gets my vote. Just get a household box fan and take the side panel off. That should drop those temps 10C easy enough.

I was loling at your "Sell 3rd card. It is pretty useless anyways due to drivers." comment. Not an ounce of truth (or experience) in that comment.
It has truth since games are not even using SLi. Let alone a 3rd card solution. Atleast the ones I am playing don't use SLi

I have a custom case door on my 800d which as 2 120 fans pulling hot air out in the gpu area. I guess it's not working well enough. I'll try the box fan idea. I do have tri sli working in Blops2, setting it to alternate frame 2 I am able to get 90s/80s/80s usage across the gpus. Never dip under 120s on fps from what I noticed lol. It's funny even when the top card hits 90cs it still runs at low 1200s at stock settings.
