Who's waiting to buy a 4870x2

I can get one in Canada for $560 CAD + GST.

What do you guys think the odds are that it'll drop below $500 in the next few weeks?

Probably not. Both the 280 and the 4870 X2 will likely remain out of my price range, and as I'm at 1680x1050 I don't feel the need for them.

By the time an x2 or 280 is affordable for me, there will be a 4850 type card thats faster, lower power, smaller and has a picture of boobies on it.

nein! I got 4870 CF when first released and am glad I did ;)

Same here

The HD4870X2 will be available here in Egypt next week and if the price is right (I mean close to the 550$ US prices) , I will sell my HD4870 and get the X2 :D

Ati vendors need to get onto the band-wagon and offer some type of stepup program. Cards are just getting too expensive for enthusiasts to invest in technology that will be replaced in a few months (old news, I know).

Dc

ps. Not getting one right away.

The HD 4870 X2 is a bit too power hungry for me. The HD 4850 X2 looks intriguing though. For now, I'm just going to keep my HD 4870. It's a great card for the money.

I have a 4870 right now so I'll probably wait until the new year and do my CPU and RAM upgrade first. My 42" also limits me to 1920x1080 so the 4870X2 may be a little overkill for right now. I'd say around mid January or so I'll take a hard look at a 4870X2 2GB or whatever their best is at the time and sell off my 4870.

I want one and they are not priced bad ,but I think I may need a bigger power supply .I just run my at 1920x1200 and I really don't need that much power.I wish the 4850x2 had came out for $399.

if i purchase a HD48xx card it will not be a HD4870x2 but two HD4870 1GB for the following reasons :

1- I dont care if 4870 CF is 3 - 6 FPS slower than a single 4870x2

2- If you are a silent freak .. its easier to find and install passive and or aftermaket cooler on a 4870 than trying to find something that fit a 4870x2.

3- You can start with one , add a second later with better price after the big hype is gone..

4- When the time come and you are ready to upgrade cards again in your main rig , you can remove and split the two 4870 CF setup and put them in two different computers to update your old computers ... plus you gain extra HDMI adaptor , extra CF bridges and cables ( lol )

yes i have 5 different computers ... so its a way for me to update them ..

I'm not excited that they still suffer from micro-stutter (though not too noticeable if you stay at higher FPS).

They will get cheaper; no doubt about it.

AT's review stated AMD said themself they should be $499 soon; i will consider one for around that price.

Where did you get Microstutter?
